Web Audio
Pyramid creates original music and sound effects for web pages. There are many different factors to consider when determining which audio format you should use on your web page. Each format has its pros and cons. Click on the name of the format for more detailed descriptions and examples.
MP3 is the most popular format. The files come very close to matching the sound quality of CDs and are only 1/10th the size.
Flash is a terrific way of delivery animation synchronized with sound. Flash files (and download times) are much smaller than normal animated graphics.
Real Audio is a format for streaming audio. Seconds after your visitor clicks a Real Audio link, they hear the music while it's being downloaded. However, because the files are so much smaller, the audio quality suffers.
Quicktime is the best way to deliver video synchronized with sound. There are many ways to compress the files to maintain the best video and audio quality.
Beatnik is a lesser known format for delivering high quality audio. Beatnik files are much smaller than all other formats and could well be the next standard for audio.
MIDI download the fastest, but the quality of their playback varies from user to user.
Please visit our plug-ins page if you are missing the player for any of these audio formats.
