MP3

MP3 is a format for compressed audio. Similar to music on a CD or a .WAV file, MP3s are compressed recordings of music or dialogue. What is so intriguing about an MP3 file is that it is much smaller than most audio files, but they sound very good. They are about 1/10th the size of a regular audio file from a CD and the audio quality can be compared to that of a cassette.

There are two steps for converting your music to an MP3. First, it must be recorded into digital audio software. Then it must be encoded into the MP3 file. Once the file is created, it can be uploaded to your website. Visitors to your page will then click on a link to the MP3 file and a browser plug-in will play the audio on their computer.
